Sorry for the Typos- I am trying to write quickly, and need to study, and with finals, the computer is superrr slowwww, so i will edit/re-read later!!
Alright, I am aware that I have not blogged about my spring break in Cinque Terre, or the following weeks to this time, but I still am not going to... no time. Ask me about it when I am home.
But I WILL blog about the past week.
Jessica Waldron/Morton came to visit me. She sent me her itenerary about a month ago, and said she was leaving on the 9th of May to come see me!
I had finals on the 29th, 5th, a paper due the 6th, final on the 10th and 16th. So I thought perfect.
The 9th rolled around and I set my alarm for 6am to get ready/study/to the airport by 11 to pick her beautiful self up. I got there, and was two hours eary, the bus wasn't timed right, but I did not want her to be alone in Ireland, so It didnt bother me, and I was able to study while sitting there.
Well, turns out she left on the 9th and did not get here til the 10, which totally makes sense, I just check the time of arrival and assumed it was the 9th, paying no mind to the date written beside it. So I spent 30Euro getting to and from the airport for no reason. The following day I took a different bus to the airport so that I was not there two hours early since my test was in a few hours after her arrival. Spent 30Euro AGAIN to pick her up, and I was late. She had been standing there forever waiting nervously. They lost her bags in San Francisco also. FAIL.
So I literally got off the bus. Found her. Waited for the same bus to open his doors back up. Was not thrilled about that.
We got to school and I had a lot of studying to do before my 4pm final that was really stressing me out. So Jess went with Steph and Maggie into town while I stayed to cram some more. My friends are awesome so I do not think it was too weird, but there was no other option.
They got back, and I finished my test, which I feel pretty confident about. We went to the pub/bar on campus and watched one of my favorite Irish Bands I like to call Band of Hot, but most people know them as, Hermitage Green. They would be such a great time on Jambo (hint hint).
We walked back that night and slept in the next morning. Jess slept til noon, catching up so she was not jet lagged. We went to the Library to use the computers and plan our week. That night we had dinner together and planned for the next day to go to Dingle to ride horses. Well that night we went out with Maggie to stables. We ended up meeting some people and made our way downtown.
As I have mentioned before, Irish time goes by quicker than any other time in the world. Before we knew it it was 4 am when we were getting back to Stephani's place. I set my alarm for 7am to get up to go to Dingle.
7am rolled around and I went in to get Jess and she suggested we sleep, and I was unopposed.
In hindsight, we should have woke up and gone anyways. Once we were up, I searched online what we can do. By the time we got going it was 3pm, so we decided we would just go into Limerick and do the castle and museum tours. Well, everything was closed. Everything closes at 1700. Awesome. So that was a waste.
Since we were in town we decide to go to Dolans, and Irish pub with live music and great food. It was awesome Steph and Christina met Maggie, Jess and I there. It really was a nice time with great food.
I had plans for Friday night to say good bye to a lot of my friends, so we went back into Town Friday and toured the milk market, and did the museum. We met |Rachels parents, it was awesome. We left town to pack all my junk up in my room, and then were going to have dinner with Mags at 7.
dinner with Mags turned into dinner with Rachel, Mag, Christina and their two French roomies. Maggie went to say bye to one of her friends and we did not see her for a while, and we did not eat until about 21:30. So we never got to get ready to go party/say goodbye to my other group.
I started to get grumpy, I really wanted to see a lot of my other friends and have one last shindig before we all left... We ended up getting to meet them at stables, then after wards and I enjoyed it. I am sad it was not how it was planned originally but still really ended up being a good time.
The next morning we were going to go to Galway, then to the Aran Islands. We were supposed to catch the 9:30 bus to Galway. I was ready and in the kitchen killing time on the computer and by the time Jess was ready, we would have missed the bus. Neither of us realized what time it was, and I didnt think we were taking long to get ready. IRISH TIME IS SO FASTTT. So we decided to get the next one. It worked out becuase we would be able to make some breakfast. Well, we made potatoes and eggs and toast. Missed the next bus also.
Luckily they come every hour so we were ready to get the 11:30 one. It got u direct to Galway around 12:30. The last bus to take us to the ferry left at noon.
So we hung out in Galway for the day.
Galway is a great city, I have been there before, I went with Shast, but it can be done in about an hour and we had the whole day/night. It was a pretty day, cold but really pretty. We visited the Spanish Arch, the Cathedral a few churches and did some shopping.
Originally we were going to the Kylemore Abbey on Sunday. We thought since we missed the islands we could do the Abbey sat, Islands Sun. Wrong.
The abbey bus only leaves at 10:00am everyday. So we decided to do the Islands the next morning and skip Abbey.
Of Course Sunday was a nasty, rainy, overcast, gloomy day. But no bother, the rain let up and we were good to go. It was still foggy but not wet.
We got to the Island, and had originally planned on riding bikes to tour the Isand Sat. But since the weather thought it would be nice to totally change, we ended up getting a bus tour. It was dry, not windy and informational, overall a good choice.
We got to the point of interest, a big high cliff that is like the Cliffs of Moher, and my camera died. AWESOME.
So Jess got some pictures up there that I will steal from her. Once we got down off the cliff, I purchased some batteries and we set off. I was getting something out of my purse and set my camera in my lap, just then the bus driver took off pretty sharply and my camera rolled onto the group.
No damage done, or so I thought.
once we got to the 7 churches on the Island (big graveyard) I took out my camera and what do ya know. BIG BLACK CIRCLE. It was not on the lense it was like a bruise, but is definitely on every single picture.
I quickly got irritated and put it away. We headed to the far end of the Island and then worked our way back passed some cows in the road blocking traffic (so cute) and some seals basking in the overcast clouds.
I wanted to get a pic of one of the horse drawn carriages right before we got on the ferry, and guess what, the black spot was gone.
Grateful the spot is gone, but couldnt be more annoyed at the timing of it honestly. So the pictures of the Island were bad. At least Jess got some.
So after that we headed back to Limerick. We got back, went to my room to bring half of my stuff to Steph's and walked the 30 minutes to her house. I struggled the whole way here, my load was probably 70lbs and I was struggling. It all worked out. We got back around midnight and I started to study for my 9am final.
Ii tried in Galway but the document kept opening in another language, go figure.
So I quickly fell asleep while attempting to read this document once I figured it out, but had previously set my alarm for 6am to get up and study again.
I did that, got up read, got to school only to find out that the test is now at 12:30 not 9am.
Good, more hours to study!
Bad, that will last until 14:30 and we were planning on getting a bus to Cork, so Jess can kiss the Blarney Stone at 14:35. Not gunna work out.
Tonight is my 'family dinner' night with the best friends I have made. Not Mags, Steph and Rach, but Melanie, Katie, Jennie, Meagan, Danielle, Erin and Britt. We were all going to take pics together around cmapus in cute outfits and in town then do dinner tonight and say our goodbyes. I figured I would go to Blarney again with Jess, miss the pics and be back after dinner to just do goodbyes, I mean I have had dinner before, no big deal. But I am gettin pretty sad that I am missing all of that now.
I showed up today to take this test and it wont get done til 14:30 at the earliest and that means we can not get to Cork until close to 1700, and we originally were planning on leaving Cork at 18:30.
Not enough time. FRUSTRAATION is kicking in.
I either send Jess to Blarney on her own, or don't say good bye to my friends.
Tomorrow is supposed to be Dingle.
This is seriously another everything is going wrong visit for one of my good friends in Ireland. I feel so bad.
I need to be using these extra study hours to study, not to blog.
Cheers.
be home Wednesday!
