I am so sorry. Basically, the past week I have had no time for anything but class projects!
I had to finish:
the Marketing project (video, facebook page, and 5 page paper!)
group presentation for Interactions, relationships and networking class ( + 5 page paper)
Irish Music and Dance Paper (7 pages)
But it's all done and out of the way! I have one paper left (due April 11th!) That I am already almost finished with!
This Sunday I leave for Pollenca Spain! To go and stay with a friend from Guilford College. Tyler Sanborn, has a house near the beach in Spain. He is playing for the Basketball team in Palma de Mallorca! It should be fun! I hope the weather is as great as it has been as of late!
Then I leave on April 15th to go to Cinque Terre, Italy for 8-9 days for Spring break!
Then I return and have 3 weeks dedicated to taking 5 finals, and Jessica Waldron will be visiting me!
Then I am headed back to sweet home California!
Hopefully by then I will know what I am doing for the summer internship wise.
I interviewed over the phone for IMG World and I think it went well? He basically just asked me to walk him through my resume, and if I had any questions for him. I hope it went well. I find out this week if they want me for 2nd round interviews. I might have messed up though by telling them that I work the festival and it is 2 weeks long. He said it might be an issue, but we will cross that bridge when it comes up! Cross your fingers for me.
I am going to apply for a summer job at Disneyland this week, just to have my bases covered if I get the LA internship with the US Open. It never occurred to me to look into interning with ESPN Disney internship- it is paying and sport related! But they are no longer taking applications for summer internship unfortunately! It is still fairly early too... :/ Bummer!
Still waiting to hear about the San Diego internship as well, last I talked to Dianne she was trying to help me find a place to stay!
Looking into options in Phoenix, Arizona also since I will be there for Festival, maybe I can go sooner or stay later?
Too many options, I hope at least ONE works out!
This is a short one, not much has happened lately, just a lot of school work and hangin out with the girls!
I will have a lot to tell you sometime next week about SPAIN!

I spoke too soon!
So I just got an email saying I had a package to pick up, so I went down to reception andddd... Dave Walters = best boss ever!
He sent me a package with rice, multiple Guilfordians (School Newspaper, I will be writing for next year actually!), twix, m&ms, jelly beans, MINTSSS, a card, newspaper clippings from the Figure Skating Championships that were held in Greensboro recently, that he and his Wife volunteered for. Clippings of Trevor Bayne after he won Daytona, then again when he crashed because of the brakes (or lack thereof), Reeses Egg! (no idea he knew those are my favorites along with twix and MINTS!) . He also sent a spring sports schedule for Guilford athletics, I'm sure to remind me of all the games I am not there to help him with (23 just between baseball and softball!--sorry!) and an Awesome Jason Castro CD titled Who I Am (appropriate for my reoccurring 'finding myself' theme here lately!)
Thank you!

My marketing project is done!

Go check it out on Facebook, we are going to get it up on YouTube in the next few days too! Make sure to "like" our EHarmony spoof page and the video as well! (Yes that is me in the Elmo suit) Stephani filmed it and did fantastico! The more likes, comments and views we have, the better our grade is!
I am in such a great mood, honestly I should be really stressed right now because I have another HUGE presentation/project due on Thursday and Friday as well, but I am in a great mood.
I opened my email today and received a message from a woman at one of the best sport marketing/representation businesses. IMG action sports. I am thrilled. She somehow got my resume (I think from the US Open- because they work for them and are the ones that pretty much run it...) and asked for a phone interview next Tuesday! Whatt? I am thrilled. They are such a fantastic business, and have everything I am looking for. They even do work/have connections with the Olympics (score!)
I will let everyone know how that goes.
I have been craving my mints lately. I am so used to receiving a package from mom with a bag in it and once that was finished one from my dad...I find myself looking for them in the stores here, not going to lie, but they do not have them. I thought I cracked my addiction but I don't think I have.
I am kind of giddy about this IMG thing, I am not sure if it is for an internship or to help out with the US Open again, but either way I hope this works out! Anndd it is in LA area so maybe I will get to spend time with Aunt Mikey and Uncle Greg again this summer!
Tomorrow night is our "wine and cheese" night over at Rachel and Christina's house. I love girls' nights, a lot. I have been looking forward to it since our last one when we made soup...which was not too long ago.
Anyways, don't forget to check out the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFowy3N--rI

Rachel and Taylor: America's next top Chefs!
The next day Rachel and I made it to our classes even though we went to bed near half three in the morning. But I did it, I got up for my 10am class and then we went to Lidls and did some light (healthy) grocery shopping. Terrence, an Asian Canadian studying at UL heard us talking and immediately pin-pointed us as Americans (kind of like that woman who had Stephani's wallet), we were discussing what we wanted to make for dinner and throwing out so many ideas. He offered to give us a ride back to campus since he had a car. We figured he was harmless and after about 30 minutes of getting our stir fry ingredients we went back with Terrence. Bless his heart. I think he was nervous to be taking two girls in a car with him. He almost hit someone in the parking lot, then could not figure out how to get out of the parking lot. He was very apologetic for everything. Sorry the car was too small, or sorry if it smells like cleaner, and sorry I swear I am not a crazy driver... it was entertaining, but Rachel and I kind of got nervous for a sec. It was a manual and since they drive on opposite side of car it was weird to see him shifting with his left hand...he obviously thought so too because he stalled, and also completely forgot to shift at one point going through the roundabout, he also went to fifth instead of 3rd at one point I think...not like I am a pro, but dang "sorry, you must think I am totally dumb, I forgot to shift back there"
It was amusing either way, and we made it back safely!
Rach and I made some amazing stir fry that night and were very proud of ourselves (even though Scott says "stirfry is easy though!") We had some peppers, mushrooms, steak, rice, soy sauce, onions and carrots. We are definitely learning as we go when we cook, we decided to cook the rice first next time, and the meat last. But besides that it was really good!

Yesterday we went to the milk market. It was such a gorgeous day in town. I brought my camera again to get pictures, and of course I left my memory card in my computer, so that was all for nothing. But, we bought stuff to make crab soup :] We bought some crab legs (5euro for the bag!) we opted against purchasing the live crab because 1) we didn't want to kill it and 2) didn't want to carry a live crab around for the rest of the day; we also bought organic Irish potatoes, this amazing garlic leaf thing (it's awesome), some farm fresh peppers, wine, bread and some other veggies to add to our "support the local farms" shopping spree...we went into some stores tried on some fun clothes, until we realized the crab was kind of starting to smell/leak...
As we were leaving we heard someone singing, come to find out there was a little st. patricks day concert kind of thing down town, and wouldn't ya know she was singing Martina McBride's "Independence Day"...I swear we cannot escape America here, Rachel and I couldn't help but laugh.
We hit up Dunnes and Guineys in search for a wine glass and candles.
We made it back and realized we hadnt eaten all day so we wanted to make our crab soup right away!
After looking up recipes, which we never found, and asking Mom and Grandma for tips, we concocted the BEST crab soup ever! You would be shocked with what we put in it, how good it tasted, and how it was completely off of what we had in our heads and on my page of notes from mom's help. It was amazing, We probably could not make it again though unfortunately.
We carmelized onions and garlic together, added some white wine and then added that to some potatoes, carrots, more wine, some water, some milk, those garlic leaves, some red peppers (yeah really), some cinnamon (yup, you read that right), some basil, garlic powder, pepper and some salt, and more wine! We simmered that for about 45 minutes, added the crab which I so elegantly cracked-aka chopped Ax style with a metal spatula...for the next twenty minutes. We had to remove most of the potatoes and carrots from the first pot into a smaller one so all of our crab could fit! Before adding the crab we were like "oh nooo why did we add cinnamon and peppers, thats all we taste?!" but that crab sure added flavor and between the two of us we finished both pots of the soup. Maggie and Christina each had a bowl, and were as impressed as we were with our masterpiece. While the soup was simmering we finished the rest of the white wine (whine- as I so geniusly put together- kind of like that made up word too), opened a bottle of red, ate from our loaf of bread, had some brie cheese, peppers, and oil and balsamic vinegar as an appetizer! I really could not have enjoyed yesterday more!
Now today is filled with homework, homework, homework...
Cheers!

Paddy's day the Irish way..
First of all, Congratulations To Jessica and Kenny for welcoming Lyla June Spitzer to the world on St. Patrick's Day! I cannot wait to meet her!
All rightty lets see, what have I been up to since last registering and applying for housing...Uhm We have been accepted to live in Hodgins next year, so I have roommates and a place to stay, not sure which room yet though, but I am not worried about that. My classes are all messed up, but I only have one year left, so honestly, I think I will survive!
That group project I did with my non-english group earned a B...kind of disappointed but, we have another one due Thursday, hopefully it will go better. The 38 page paper I did with my group (that my Mother and Grandmother know the story about...) got an A1 which is an A+ --I'd like to thank Guilford for being a writing intensive college; I never thought I would be the one peer-editing and improving a paper, but I am so glad I did!
Last week pretty much flew by. Mondays I only have 1 class, Tuesdays -2, Wed- 0 Thursday-I'm in class from 9am-6pm and Fridays-2....well Thanks to Paddy's day, Thursday classes were cancelled and one of my classes Friday was as well, so pretty much barely had class last week.
Thursday we got on the bus at 6:30am to head to Dublin to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and watch the largest parade in the country... We arrived about half nine (9:30am), and some guys were already hitting the beer bong- when in Ireland I guess...
We were a few hours early for the parade, so we decided to walk around, buy some souvenirs, some girls bought some festive decorations and then we found a pub that was open and serving breakfast. So we all went in to have our "Irish breakfasts". It was a cute little pub, I have posted pics up to facebook
( www.facebook.com/tayphilly12 ) I will say that my picture-taking skills were slacking Thursday, for the parade and everything sorry!...We struggled to find seats for all of us so we split up so we could b seated faster, the pub was crazy-packed. I have always known that you are supposed to wear green on this holiday, but I have always celebrated at school; we all know there are some kids that are "too cool" or "too old" to wear green and play along...Dublin was insane though as far as spirit went. I have never seen so much green or orange in my life. It was a sea of green, there were people everywhere as well. I was so shocked. We foolishly attempted to walk through a gift shop, I think we made it about 15 feet in in about 10 minutes, so we turned around and left. We applied temporary "kiss me I'm Irish", clovers and Irish flag tattoos on ourselves, applied some green face glitter and were off to find places to stand to see the parade. The parade was not due to start for another hour, but everyone in Ireland was in Dublin and there were absolutely no places left to actually watch the parade from. Melanie and I went in search for some of her friends from Penn State, I thought we were just going to say hi, but we ended up staying over there for the entire duration of the parade. I had fun, but did not know anyone of them unfortunately, so it was not as fun as I would have hoped. There were tall guys in front of us, and then a dad that kept his son on his shoulders the whole time, he was the star of my 'parade pictures'. Eventually some of the people in front of us left so I was able to squeeze closer to the road to see the actual parade. There was enough room to stick my hand holding my camera out and snap pictures even though I could not see but they were pretty good I guess. There was a funky theme to the parade, someone mentioned it being based off of a book, but all Melanie and I could see were dogs, three-headed dogs, birds, death related and eyeball floats. It was definitely odd to say the least. Once the parade was over we headed back to the bus to get a lift over to the Guinness factory.
The group did not allow for us to have enough time to actually do the entire tour, gift shop and taste the Guinness, so we cut the tour short, we did the first few levels of it and then just skipped to the top level. It was a lot of fun. We had our free sample pints of Guinness, it was not green, but they made clover shapes in the foam somehow and it was fun. Guinness is still gross. I am sorry, but I think it is an acquired taste, and I sure as heck don't have it, but I did drink most of it somehow. The view from the top level of Guinnes was amazing, I mean it was only of Dublin, but I never realized how HUGE Dublin really is. It is not a tall city, but dang, I don't think I saw any green land or hills anywhere, there were buildings for as far as I could see!
Before we knew it we had to get back on the bus to head back to Limerick. Once back at Limerick a few of us met up- we ordered some food, and planned the rest of our night. Nothing "big" happened it was kind of a random night of bouncing around from random places, so it is hard to explain, but it was one of those nights that was really fun for no specific reason. We went to go snake hunting for a while with a group, until Rachel and I realized that there are no snakes in this country, thanks to St Patrick banning them, so we decided to forgo the stomping in the mud for nothing.
I had so much fun. People in Ireland really can drink. I know that everything I have said makes it seem like another day and nothing special, but I almost feel as though I expected so much more, but since the Irish drink and party daily, Paddys day was just another day, except they wore green? It was fun none the less, but I think it is a bigger deal in the states, maybe because we party on Holidays rather then on days that end in "y" like everyone in this country seems to do, so those specific days stand out in my mind as a big deal... I can now say that I spent St Patrick's day in Dublin/Ireland though!

This is real life...
Wow, so it is really starting to hit home with me that I am living in another country. I am not staying here or visiting, but living in this country for the next few months. It feels so unreal. I am also about to be 21 years old and a senior in college...? What?! I remember my freshman day of high school like it was yesterday; and then going on my recruiting trip to Guilford. I remember freshmen orientation and the first day of "college volleyball" pre-season...IMy first college game against Peace College... can not believe this is all happening. I started to really realize it yesterday when I was making my senior year fall semester class schedule. I have 33 credits left to fill at Gulford before I can graduate, but I only have four classes left to take! That takes up 16 credits...then what...?
I decided to pick up communications as a minor and still only have to take 2 extra classes to add. Awesome so I have 6 classes down...I still need almost 10 credits- and Guilford does not offer "easy classes" that I can just pick up to fill my credits unless they are physical education courses- or choir (hahaha, right.). So I am taking 6 random classes: First aid, fitness for living, general fitness, general conditioning (both semesters) and beginner's tennis. I think it should be a pretty good senior year- at least the Spring semester!
I have finish only three courses for my sport management major, and wouldn't you know it, they are both offered at the same time, same day and ONLY in the fall semester. Yeah, awesome. I emailed my advisor about 100 times throughout this planning process and think they might change the time. We will see.
I am almost hoping they dont find a new time slot for it because I honestly don't know if I can change anything in the schedule as it is. I might be taking finance as an independent study course in the spring...don't know how that works, but I think I would rather do that. Other wise I will be taking Sport finance, research method of sport anddd business ethics all in the same semester at the same time as an internship and volleyball (Not easy at all, leaving my last semester taking 3 conditioning classes, first aid, mass media and taking pictures for the guilfordian, and journalism) So confusing!!
If it ends up not working out that I cant take Journalism and mass media then I just wont have the extra minor (by one class, which may suck)
Gotta figure it all out!
I was supposed to register this morning. Apparently, study abroad students get to register like a month sooner then the other students. We got an email saying that we are allowed to register at 12:00 midnight (Greensboro time) on Monday March 14th. So with the time change, I was allowed to log in at 4am to register.
Yea I woke up at 7. I woke up with my phone in my bed- apparently I turned the alarm off at 4am and have no recollection of it. Good thing though, becuase someoneee at Guilford forgot to open it up to us. So this morning when I woke up in complete panic, I was relieved to see that it wouldnt have been an option at 4 am anyways- see everything happens for a reason!
It sucks though knowing that the classes are all only offered during overlapping times. It is hard enough with volleyball practices and games as well to work my classes around (technically I am moving volleyball and other classes around the 3 main courses I need to get the Major/minor(s)), but it is extremely difficult, but somehow I planned out both semesters already!
I am pretty proud that I will graduate in 4 years :] kind of makes me feel relieved that I wont be spending another year at Guilford, and I might actually have 1 major and two minors.
No more information on the scholarships yet...might end up just doing the festival again (only) and getting a summer job or trying to work for the fairgrounds or Arnolds, or babysit/nanny for the summer... I sent my resume to a few businesses in town, but it is too soon to apply, or they are unaware of what their staff will look like come May. hmmf.
Also, housing applications are due today as well. The girls I was going to live with decided to go off campus, and my computer here wont let me acces anything for a while from The Guilford website, and I missed the off campus housing application deadline. I am happy I did, because they still do not have a place yet to live, I dont have a car, I will have practices, and it would not have been easy for anyone really. But I got an email from a girl that was looking for another roommate for Hodgins, so there are three of us going to live in Hodgins next year. Should be fun. I have never met them, but they look nice and say they live clean! It should be fun, and I will b meeting more people! Its also a much cheaper situation to live over there, and a better house option! I cant wait!
Alright off to do another group project with my non-english group...I am stuck doing it all again :/

Coming home May 18th!
Okay Mamadukes, you are right it has been about a week. I honestly thought I blogged more recently, but the weeks fly by here so fast- I am just now realizing it is already Thursday again.
Last week was Rag week; Friday night I went to Christina and Rachel's for some "family" spaghetti. It was really good and we had a lot of good craic as well .We played card games like War, Egyptian Rat Screw (?) and Golf (I thought only my family enjoyed this game...but I introduced it to them and they LOVE it!) We played for hours it seemed like, colored pictures (yes, we are in college), hung the pictures up on their kitchen wall, and we had so many funny moments that we actually started a page for our funny one-liners, quotes, and things that made us laugh all night. Stephani's boyfriend Josh came to hang out from Tennessee, so needless to say he got to know us really well- really quickly- whether he was ready, or not; but he fit right in with us! After family dinner we headed to Stables to see what was going on there.
It was a Friday, and all the Irish go home on Fridays so it was pretty much just international students in Stables. I was starting to feel like I was getting a cold, and was not in the best of moods when we got to Stables, I felt drained of all of my energy. I ended up leaving early (still like 12:30), and as I was grabbing my scarf and jacket to leave, these two gross sweaty guys started party-boy sandwich dancing on me telling me I could not leave. First of all, I did not know these guys, nor did I want to. Secondly, when my mind is made up and I want to leave, it really means that I want to go. I smiled though, and jokingly said sorry I don't know how to dance, and you're all sweaty. (Bad Ideaaaaa) The nasty guy took his hand, wiped it all over his face, and then rubbed his sweaty nasty hand down my face!! The nerve! I almost decked him, honestly- I thought about it, but they were intoxicated and about 6ft tall. So I smiled and said, "yeah, you have a good night boys" and walked out. I like stomped and pouted the whole way back to my room. I just don't understand the guys in this country; if I come back with nothing else but the appreciation for the men I have met in my life and the respect they show to all the girls they encounter, I will be satisfied. It is a whole new world over here (not in an Aladdin-ish positive way). That night I posted a status to God telling him that I didnt remember praying for a lesson in tolerance and patience lately, but since I was having so many opportunities, I would appreciate if he spread them out a little bit before I lost it. I think he felt sorry for my sweaty-man-germ infested face, because since then it has been much better.
I spent the weekend in bed basically. I was sick. Sore throat, cough, and congestion. I drank honey water, lemon water and took some stuff Mamadukes sent over with me and am better now (granted it is Thursday already) but I am glad I am feeling better.
I had to skip volleyball Tuesday night though, but am going to make it to tomorrow nights practice. It feels good to be working out again, I went and did an hour of cardio yesterday morning at 7:30, then made it to the gym for 10:30 body pump, and then today I got myself out of bed for a 7:15am Spin and Abs. Phweewww I did not miss that spin bike, for reasons I blogged about before. But it really was a brutal workout and I feel much better about myself :] I also am trying to watch what I eat a little more. I am realizing that I am not loosing any weight or seeing any progresss (even though I work out weekly and have done more cardio in the last month and half then ever in an off-season of volleyball) because I am living off of bread, cheese and pasta. Seriously. I am all about living cheaply (I am even washing my laundry in the sink to save 10 bucks each time - it's a rip off to do laundry). I cracked though and bought brown bread today, granola, and some veggies (yes, Grandma, I like crave veggies now- NO not asparagus, green beans, broccoli, cabbage or squash and zunchini- that will never happen- you and Mom have ruined that for me).
School assignments are starting to pick up unfortunately. It shouldn't be too hard though in comparisson to Guilford the past three years, and next Thursday school is cancelled for Paddy's day! I will be in Dublin experiencing the Paddy's Day parade and touring the Guinness Factory ( for the green Guinness- yep actually going to pour myself a pint, and drink it!)
I don't know what it is about this week and my feet but I have tripped more than I ever have in my entire life! If you know me you know I trip daily as it is, well multiply that by at least three! Seriously, yesterday in Body Pump I was walking toward Mel and talking about how we should "act like tourists" and "accidentally" walk in on the Munster team working out and ask where the Body Pump class is being held (even though it's right next door). We were already in the room and set up, but anyways, I am walking toward her and my left foot got caught up in my workout pants and next thing I know I am falling forward into Mel's arms. No harm done physically, and I just laughed at myself. Her response was "the fear in your face was priceless!" Ha I want someone to film my life, they would make so money on Americas funniest videos or something- real talk.
Today I was walking and you know that awkward moment when you make eye contact with someone you don't know. Its like you want to say hi cause you have obviously made the weird eye contact, but you don't know eachother so its weird, so the half smile is usually what happens. Yeah well I would have preferred saying hi today then what happened. I was walking by a bush glanced up and did the odd eye contact thing with some guy and out of nowhere (well, from inside the bush) comes flying out a bird! It hit me. Like flew into me! So I freaked out (naturally). My hair was flying everywhere, I was twisting and laughing histerically at the situation and thinking like really? did that just happen? How often does a bird fly into someone? I'm that girl!
I could write a whole book on "that girl" situations that happen to me. Like the fact that I was on the treadmill yesterday and my arm caught my headphone cable and yanked my ipod down onto the treadmill, it bounced the whole way down the treadmill, making a lot of noise. I was already in my groove running, but I pressed the red STOP button and waited for the treadmill to slow so I could stand and just gracefully slide off the end of the treadmill. HaHa! Yeah, right. I like stood on the thing as it is sliding toward the end of the treadmill and went to slide of as suave as I could, ended up falling off the edge! It was literally a lot like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmKFXr7K27g&playnext=1&list=PLAA212F68969497F0
You should be proud Daddio, Donna , Scotty-boy and Mamadukes, for real- you've raised a realll winner!) --I can see it now, someone (probably Mom) will comment and say "at least you're cute hun!-- save it, I already know it will be said!
Gotta go, Buffalo!

Black light night at the club is my new favorite!
So last night I went to a different night club called Trooms (Trinity rooms) It has themed rooms like the other one did.
I met up with my friends to get ready, and we thought that we needed to get to Trooms early, since it was supposed to start at 9. So we headed over around 9:30 to avoid queuing (standing in line) only to find not a single person in sight. (10pm) is still too early to go out. But we got in for free, so we did not have to pay a cover which was so worth it!
The good news was that we were only there for 30 minutes before we were allowed into the actual dance club part. We were the first to have the UV pain put all over our bodies, and scored all of the glow sticks. The paint this place had was awesome. We had white, blue and green, we looked like jungle women or avatars or something, It was so much fun, I wish I had a camera that can take pictures in black light. We were opening our glow sticks and splattering the juices out on us, My eye took a beating, but the good news is that I can still see, and It is no longer numb/stinging- oh and it doesn't glow!
We danced the night away. It soon got packed and then was really annoying. Too many bodies in one place. We ended up leaving at half one I think, which was perfect because our feet hurt too!
No drama, no tripping or funny stories, no best friend body guards, just a good night of great craic!
Oh and for all of you that think I found an Irish boy, my picture on facebook is of a boy that uh, likes boys. Ha so much fun to hang out with though! Don't get your hopes up, I have not found Gerard Butler yet...
Love you all!

Well, Rag week is under way!
kissing competitions, sausage eating fests, jello and sumo wrestling, mechanical bulls, giant screen blow-up tvs in the courtyard, alcohol for breakfast, gorgeous weather, hypnotists, magicians, chugging yards of alcohol, men in 'mankinis' roaming the campus, rafting competitions down the river, amazing bands, black light/UV dance clubs and good craic! BEST WEEK EVER... (This is a combination of Jeeping, Festival, Serendipity Fair and summer all in 4 days!) mind you I did not partake in the events listed above, just witnessed them!
Let me tell you, this is such a wild experience! I'm not gunna lie, I drank on a Monday night and felt so guilty...
My roommates wake up and drink a beer (or 8) around 10am then drink 'til 2am again. I am convinced that Irish students are not human, or they have steel livers or something...I was right when I said I cannot hang. I went out Monday and Tuesday nights...and was asleep last night by 10:30. I had to refuel on my sleep, Tonight should be the best craic of all! There is a terrible band playing here called the Rubberbandits...I would post a link for y'all to check out, but they are so vulgar and ridiculous that it would not be appropriate, but thats Ireland for ya!
I am not at all thrilled to listen to the band tonight, but the money goes to charity and the environment should be so much fun! They are having the concert in our huge athletic arena- so we wont freeze...and it is going to be so insane! I can see a whole blog dedicated to tonight's events coming tomorrow!
I have had to turn in 3 group projects this week- thank you lecturers that hate Rag Week!
I am going to take this opportunity to say how much I dislike group projects. It's hard enough to figure out what the teacher wants, but I had to work in a group where I was the only one that spoke, understood and could read English. Yeah. We had to give a PowerPoint presentation to the class/teachers on a Japanese business (reallly?!). That was awesome. As if it was not hard enough for my Finnish, French, Spanish and I don't know where the other girl was from cause she said all of 5 words the entire 3 weeks we have been working on this, for them to understand English the teacher made us study a business in Japan! We needed outside resources...yeah well Tokaibane Inc's website is in Japanese, that went over realllly well!
Oh yeah and Shane or Sean or whatever we called him downstairs moved out apparently. None of us knew, he just dipped out. I still never saw him one time, so he can be in one of my classes or walking beside me and I would have NO idea that we lived in the same house. And Anita (the Irish girl) is on a teaching program type internship and moved out for the next 6 weeks, so there are 4 of us left in the house. It is nice. I'd say its quiet, but it's pretty much always quiet, even during rag week for the most part!
I went to a UV dance Paint party the other night at a club in town! It was pretty fun, my old roommate Ger (whom I talked to all of 5 times in the Orange house) got me a ticket. They sold out pretty quick so none of my friends were able to get tickets. Awkward. I showed up to hang out with this stranger practically, but it ended up being pretty fun! There were 3 different rooms with a different theme in each one...My favorite happened to be the room that is dedicated as the smokers section. So I was not able to spend as much time in there as I wanted to, unfortunately. One whole wall was a waterfall wall basically and the entire thing was black lights so everyone was glowing, and the face paint and glow stick juice that was all over everyone looked really awesome in there...after leaving there I went to another club to meet up with my friends that ended up there. Well it was almost 2 and Icon closes at half-two, and the body guards were only letting people out. So I was standing outside as everyone was working their way out with paint all over my face. Yeah apparently I was the only one that ventured from the paint party to Icon, so I stood out like a sore thumb.
The body guards were swamped with girls begging to get in.
"Here, hold my purse, I will be right back, I just want to get my friends"
"I do not want to hold your purse. No."
"please, (tears) I just want to get in to grab my friends I prooomisseee"
"No."
They showed no sympathy. I just laughed (to myself of course) as multiple girls begged and begged and used all the different lines to convince the bouncers to let them inside. Once they left he looked at me and asked if I wanted to stand inside cause it was pretty cold outside. SCORE! I was so thrilled. The one girl that was crying saw me walk in and ran up to him and started in on him! He closed the door on her. It was quite entertaining. "I hate my job."
I messed with all of the drunk people pointing at their own cheeks and telling me I had something blue on my face, as if I did not know. I would reply with "how many drugs did you take tonight?" or "How much have you had to drink, I have nothing on me face!?" One guy went as far as to ask the body guard, and since we were friends now, he played along "Sir, she has nothing on her face. How much have you had to drink? I am going to have to ask you to leave." (took his drink) and sent him outside. It was awesome. He asked for a piece of gum, and I asked to sit on his security chair since my feet hurt. We are best friends now. He told me how to get into the club next time for free- might come in handy?
I have to finish up my group project now. This time we all speak English so it shouldn't be too hard to finish up, and we don't have to present, go figure.
Oh and the AAU internship is out for this summer. It is in Florida (awesome right?) but it is not a paid internship and they do not pay for housing or transportation either, so that would be expensive and hard to figure out.
