Wow, so it is really starting to hit home with me that I am living in another country. I am not staying here or visiting, but living in this country for the next few months. It feels so unreal. I am also about to be 21 years old and a senior in college...? What?! I remember my freshman day of high school like it was yesterday; and then going on my recruiting trip to Guilford. I remember freshmen orientation and the first day of "college volleyball" pre-season...IMy first college game against Peace College... can not believe this is all happening. I started to really realize it yesterday when I was making my senior year fall semester class schedule. I have 33 credits left to fill at Gulford before I can graduate, but I only have four classes left to take! That takes up 16 credits...then what...?
I decided to pick up communications as a minor and still only have to take 2 extra classes to add. Awesome so I have 6 classes down...I still need almost 10 credits- and Guilford does not offer "easy classes" that I can just pick up to fill my credits unless they are physical education courses- or choir (hahaha, right.). So I am taking 6 random classes: First aid, fitness for living, general fitness, general conditioning (both semesters) and beginner's tennis. I think it should be a pretty good senior year- at least the Spring semester!
I have finish only three courses for my sport management major, and wouldn't you know it, they are both offered at the same time, same day and ONLY in the fall semester. Yeah, awesome. I emailed my advisor about 100 times throughout this planning process and think they might change the time. We will see.
I am almost hoping they dont find a new time slot for it because I honestly don't know if I can change anything in the schedule as it is. I might be taking finance as an independent study course in the spring...don't know how that works, but I think I would rather do that. Other wise I will be taking Sport finance, research method of sport anddd business ethics all in the same semester at the same time as an internship and volleyball (Not easy at all, leaving my last semester taking 3 conditioning classes, first aid, mass media and taking pictures for the guilfordian, and journalism) So confusing!!
If it ends up not working out that I cant take Journalism and mass media then I just wont have the extra minor (by one class, which may suck)
Gotta figure it all out!
I was supposed to register this morning. Apparently, study abroad students get to register like a month sooner then the other students. We got an email saying that we are allowed to register at 12:00 midnight (Greensboro time) on Monday March 14th. So with the time change, I was allowed to log in at 4am to register.
Yea I woke up at 7. I woke up with my phone in my bed- apparently I turned the alarm off at 4am and have no recollection of it. Good thing though, becuase someoneee at Guilford forgot to open it up to us. So this morning when I woke up in complete panic, I was relieved to see that it wouldnt have been an option at 4 am anyways- see everything happens for a reason!
It sucks though knowing that the classes are all only offered during overlapping times. It is hard enough with volleyball practices and games as well to work my classes around (technically I am moving volleyball and other classes around the 3 main courses I need to get the Major/minor(s)), but it is extremely difficult, but somehow I planned out both semesters already!
I am pretty proud that I will graduate in 4 years :] kind of makes me feel relieved that I wont be spending another year at Guilford, and I might actually have 1 major and two minors.
No more information on the scholarships yet...might end up just doing the festival again (only) and getting a summer job or trying to work for the fairgrounds or Arnolds, or babysit/nanny for the summer... I sent my resume to a few businesses in town, but it is too soon to apply, or they are unaware of what their staff will look like come May. hmmf.
Also, housing applications are due today as well. The girls I was going to live with decided to go off campus, and my computer here wont let me acces anything for a while from The Guilford website, and I missed the off campus housing application deadline. I am happy I did, because they still do not have a place yet to live, I dont have a car, I will have practices, and it would not have been easy for anyone really. But I got an email from a girl that was looking for another roommate for Hodgins, so there are three of us going to live in Hodgins next year. Should be fun. I have never met them, but they look nice and say they live clean! It should be fun, and I will b meeting more people! Its also a much cheaper situation to live over there, and a better house option! I cant wait!
Alright off to do another group project with my non-english group...I am stuck doing it all again :/
Head up. Planning, coordinating, juggling, switching things up and prioritizing is life. Wait until you have kids, career and a family's schedule that become your responsibility. This will be seem like a walk in the park. Yes, this is your real life. The only things that change from year to year are the things you juggle.
ReplyDeleteYou will be fine. Remember this are the details that make this the best time of your life.
